MOBTV migration/transition FAQ
Q1: What is happening to MOBTV?
Come second quarter of 2010, MOBTV will move into a new portal called xinmsn.com. Most videos and programmes that were available on MOBTV.sg will now be available in xinmsn's video section . Therefore, from 24 February onwards, MOBTV will no longer accept subscriptions and renewals. However, MOBTV's services will continue to be available until 29 th March 2010, except sneak previews, which will be available until 17 th March 2010
Q2: What happens to my subscription plan that expires after 29 th March 2010?
Subscribers with plans expiring after 29 th March 2010 will be refunded for the remaining months of their subscription on a pro-rated basis. A separate letter will be sent with more information regarding your refund.
Q3: Can overseas/international users enjoy this free video-on-demand service on xinmsn?
Due to content licensing rights, the full free video-on-demand service is only available in Singapore when the portal is launched. We are working towards offering some selected MediaCorp programmes to overseas users. All other sections within xinmsn such as the editorial features and short video clips will still be available to our overseas users.
Q4: What is xinmsn?
xinmsn is a new bilingual (English and Chinese) entertainment and lifestyle portal. The portal will pool together extensive content from MediaCorp, and the online assets of MSN, the world's most popular internet destination. With xinmsn.com, users can access a plethora of programmes and content from MediaCorp Channels 5, 8 and U, MediaCorp radio stations Gold 90.5FM, Symphony 92.4FM, Yes93.3FM, 93.8LIVE, Class95FM, Capital 95.8FM, Love 97.2FM, 987FM, Lush 99.5FM and podcast.sg, 8 Days , i-Weekly and Style: and Style: Men
Q5: Will everything that is available on MOBTV be available on xinmsn?
xinmsn video will carry almost all of the MediaCorp owned titles that MOBTV is offering, but sneak previews will no longer be available on xinmsn video (please refer to what's showing section below). Catch-up TV will continue to be available (please refer to catch-up TV section below).
Q6: What is the difference between MOBTV and xinmsn videos?
MOBTV is a paid subscription video-on-demand service whereas xinmsn's video-on-demand is free.
Q7: Do I need to pay a fee to watch the content on xinmsn?
No, ALL the programmes on xinmsn video, including acquired programmes (if any), will be available to you ( Singapore users only) absolutely free, no fees required.
Q8: Do I need to sign-up/register as a member to use this free video-on-demand service?
No sign up/registration is needed for this service.
Catch-up TV
Depending on our licensing arrangement with the various content partners, selected acquired programmes such as Cougar Town , The Amazing Race , Down with Love etc will be available for free. Selected MediaCorp owned programmes from Channels 5, 8 and U that are currently on air will also be available.
Similar to MOBTV, catch-up TV programmes will be uploaded within the next working day after it's shown on air (* if the next working day is a public holiday, the content will be uploaded the day after the public holiday.) Depending on our terms with our content partners, such catch up content may be available online between 7 – 30 days.
